Fine- Tune What you are Passionate About

Once again I want you to write and not prejudge what you include on this list.  Don’t analyse whether it’s related to the creative business you think you want today or the one that you actually have.  Simply write down everything, no matter how small, that you love to do.

As you make your list of things you love to do, put a check mark by each.  Do you do them for work or fun?  Then consider whether you get to do the things you love enough or not enough and check the appropriate box.  Each activity you enjoy should have at least two check marks, although some may have three check marks- for work, for fun and enough or not enough.

These exercises are meant to build on each other and help you move forward creating dreams that are going to motivate and get you out of bed in the morning.  You may have some of the same things on your “Fine Tune What You Are Passion About” exercise as you did in your “Where You are Now” exercise, but only the really good juicy stuff.  Somehow I doubt that “Cleaning Toilets” is going to make it to the Second list.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could create an Art & Design business that allowed you to do all the things that you are truly passionate about?

Since I’m assuming that many of you are building part time or full time business of your own, what’s stopping you? It could be that you just never allowed yourself to consider that you could do with your art.  Today I’d like to give you permission.  If it’s your business, be it quarter time, part time or a full time endeavour, you get to make the rules.

The beauty of owning your own business is that you are you the “boss of yourself”.  You set the rules and the key thing is you want to have fun along the way too. If you have fun and enjoy what you do in your business you will reach your dream faster.

Of course there will be tasks that you need to be done that may not enjoy.  I understand that and I also understand that for every task there is to do, there is someone who thinks task is great fun.  All you need to do is find a way to increase you cash flow so that you can find and pay someone else to do those task that you dislike doing.
